Hello!
Trena was born in St. Anthony, Newfoundland, with deep roots in the communities of Conche and Roddickton.
Every summer, she returns to the island to unwind by the ocean and reconnect with nature, cherishing the tranquility that comes from being near the sea.
Trena's Story
As a serial entrepreneur at heart, Trena loves promoting Newfoundland businesses and those owned by Newfoundlanders. She uses the term "Newfie" endearingly, reflecting her deep connection to the people who call this beautiful province home. Through her work and community engagement, Trena continues to celebrate Newfoundland’s rich culture and strengthen bonds among its people, near and far.
Like many, Trena felt heartbroken during the pandemic when she couldn’t visit her beloved Newfoundland. To bring a piece of home to her, she connected with a talented lady from NL to create beautiful Christmas tree ornaments. Trena managed the sales while her partner crafted each ornament, and together they sold over 300 in just a few weeks!
This venture fostered a remarkable sense of community; Trena's posts were shared nearly 250 times, sparking conversations and connections. She received heartfelt messages from people sharing their stories about whom they were sending ornaments to—widows seeking companionship after losing their husbands, and sons and daughters unable to visit their parents.
Inspired by these meaningful interactions, Trena founded the Facebook group Newfie Connection to celebrate the wonderful people she met and the connections they forged. What started as a small group has blossomed into a vibrant community of just over 10,000 followers who share news and stories about Newfoundland.
Trena loves researching and learning new things, especially when it comes to the island that holds her heart. That’s part of what she loves so much about the Facebook group. She gets to learn new things about Newfoundland and Labrador, then she gets to share them with her new facebook connections and friends.
