When the cod moratorium was announced in the early 1990s, thousands of young Newfoundlanders were forced to leave home - not by choice, but by circumstance.
 

This collection tells the part of the story that never made the news.
 

Through letters and personal keepsakes, we follow John as he leaves Newfoundland and begins to build a life somewhere he never planned to be.
